Good Morning Everyone. Like Gen said, none of the white stuff on our properties but I'm sure it's up on the mountain. The forecast said snow/rain this morning so maybe there's a chance yet. We're probably not high enough at 97 feet though. I know for all of you that have to deal with it that it gets really old but here it's a novelty and I always look forward to it. I've got a crock pot of chili going this morning so we'll have a nice warm dinner tonight. I'll post the recipe on the thread too. Chocolate mousse, I heard chocolate mousse. Abby...Sure hope Molly's okay. to all in our family who needs them and especially to Andrew and Marco. Anyone who's in bad weather, please stay safe and warm. See you later for cocktails.

I received my SS present and THANK YOU I love everyone of them. Abby thanks for the update and glad they will go slow with him. Have a good Monday everyone. I need a few jingles for my Burke, he's my 10 year lab. I took him to the vet this morning because he has a new growth on his chest and very small but hard. They aspirated and got blood, fatty tumors don't bleed. They did stain it inconclusive on the results. I'm having it removed and if cancerous we got it early. At the same time they are taking off some of the larger fatty growths he has as he doesn't like them and is licking them constantly. I need suggestions on very good cones for his head as he's very creative on getting to a spot he wants to lick.I will also take the wound care supplies to the vet so they can start healing them as soon as they remove them.

for Burke. Kim you are doing the best thing getting it removed early. Where are all the lumps he's getting removed? I'm a huge fan of the 'Buster Clic' collars. They are pretty, clear plastic and even though they are cumbersome, they worked well for Molly and she was really rough on it. I know there is a soft collar option, but the plastic was cheap, and easy to duct tape the edges when I cut it to make it the perfect size for Molly. She was 'in between'. Depending on the location of the lumps, you can also put an old shirt on him to prevent and damage to sutures from him scratching with his feet or rubbing on furniture to releive the itchiness. Some dogs are very, very creative!! As far as attaching the cone to him, we encourage people to use their regular flat collars, but I just cut some gauze 'cling' and tied it around Molly's neck. She was in her crate a lot, and I wanted something that would break if she got the cone caught of something and began to struggle! That being said, I also tried the cone on Kasey when she had her TPLO surgery, and it did more harm than good. She was too stressed with the cone, would absolutely freak out if it got caught on a wall or made any noise. She would have benefitted from the soft cone, but I just made her some pants to cover the large incision. She had staples, not sutures, and I found them MUCH less annoying to her. When is Burke's surgery? Speaking of Molly, she is better today, pooped out lots of feathers, coughed a few up. She probably scraped her throat with feather, as per the vet, so we will monitor and see. I only have one other Christmas present to buy and then I'm done!

Abby the larger ones that he can get to are on his hind leg right below the hip and they are pretty large one's in that they stick out but do not hang off him. One is already without hair as he keeps licking it. I asked the vet to take them off two years ago and he said No but now that they are removing the new small one and he saw where Burke has been licking the other he agreed but warn me about him having to wear the collar. They are having me mark all of them with nail polish and the day of surgery will remove them all if possible after aspirating them.Good news he has great teeth for a 10 year old and even asked if I brush them. Not but he chews lots of bones. I can put a tee shirt on him and use the arms to cover the site along with bandages so harder to get to. He goes in on 1/12 as my vet is taking vacation before and he's the one I trust. He felt comfortable with the date and showed me what to look for and if it grows larger we will do sooner.

Kim, I'd almost be tempted to see if you can make him some 'pants' out of a pair of shorts so he can't lick back there. If he figures out how to 'push' the cone down further on his neck, he can probably get at the back end. It will be a stressful recovery for you, but he will be so happy to have those lumps off. Are you able to request getting sent home with antibiotics? Just because of the location and 'stretch' that the incisions will have, I'd be tempted to do a 7 day course of antibiotics and canine probiotics. I know everyone says they are overused, but I've seen too many post surgery pets come in needing antibiotics. Including Molly, and I was extremely diligent with the cone and bandaging.

PS Abby I have buster click at home from one of the dogs surgeries already.I could have my sister make him a cover to go over it so not so hard, we could pad it, cover with fleece and slip on collar and put Velcro on it to stay in place.

for Burke. I hope they are just old man lumpies and nothing worth worrying over. Just got a call from the shop re: the Volvo... Guess my "airplane" sustained more damage than initally thought... 99.9% chance it's going to be totalled... I am extremely light headed... I called the adjuster to see what happens next, but he didn't answer... Left a message.. Did I mention that one of hubby's friend's is also moving in with us next week? I found out last week... He is jobless, and is moving here to continue his job search... He and his dog will be staying with us until he finds a place... Not sure whether that means after a job has been obtained... or what... He is a good guy and I don't mind him by any means... I'm just anxious about the change I guess... There will be 2 stinky men, 2 stinky dogs, 2 cats, and me living here... Sounds like fun.... I am a party pooper though, he will be recieving chores to earn his keep. I am not that shy.

Abby I was thinking of a long cotton sock, that I could bring up around the site but not too tight.I could Velcro it in place. With shorts I will have to deal with his manly parts to pee and poop.

Kim, you can definitely use a sock. Sometimes people will use one suspender strap to attach it to a matching sock over the other leg.
