Hi,
I am asking if anyone can tell me where to buy a oxygentank for helping a foal to breath when it is necessary?
My vet (I am in the Netherlands) just said, and I quote: They are not for sale cause nobody uses them private....(!) If needed the vet has one, but I just want to be prepared!! Waiting for the vet can cost lives, so I just don't want to take that risk!
If I need to buy it from the US I hope it is possible?
If anyone in Europe knows how to get it, Please let me know!!

If you have craigslist or a local sale paper, you could check there. Also if you look at ebay in your local area if you have that.

You have to have a prescription to get oxygen. It is controlled because if you do not know what you are doing with it, you can cause damage as well. You also need to make sure it is mefical grade oxygen and not oxygen from a welding shop or something like that. If you find an oxygen tank, then they can not ship it full. It has to be emptied first. Then good luck finding somewhere to refill it.

You are right as far as when you have foal in need, they need the oxygen right away. Most of the time it is too late by the time the vet makes it or you get to the vet.

They are out there and I am looking into getting one myself after April just lost her foal. It seems to be one of the must haves if you are presented with a big problem but also one of those things you might never use.

Good luck in finding one and please be sure you know what you are getting. The wrong type of oxygen or oxygen administered the wrong way could cause permanent damage :-(

Updated to add that I found one after I posted this........http://www.emergencypax.com/oxygen/.

Thank you very much!!!
I know you lost your foal from April, I am so sorry for your loss! It was heartbreaking!
I will try to contact this company you provided me and ask if it is also possible to ship them empty. But at least I know what to look for.
It is better to have them here since our vet is very close but they don't have these things in their cars I just know!
I also have a farrier who is diving for sport, but I will ask him what the difference is in oxygen?
Again, Thank you and I wish you healthy foaling from now on!

So I am going to make another suggestion.  You may want to search places like ebay but look for something called an oxygen generator or oxygen concentrator.  You can get them used and if this is for emergency use for a foal then I would think one of these would suffice using while under the guidance of your Veterinarian  These are much safer to have than a tank.  for example ebay listing

You should look for a continueous flow not the pulse flow.

Just thinking outside the box.
