What a wonderful world it is when you have a horse

I just want to reach out to the friends I have made here on Marestare. I had to take my colt in this morning because something just wasn't right with him. He had a fever, seemed stiff in the hind end and was just more still then normal. I got him to the vet this morning and by then he had also developed a limp and swelling in his hind leg. He did not have that the night before. To make a long story short, they are worried he has an infection in his joint or his growth plate. I am a basket case and lost without him. They have kept him at the vet along with him momma so he can get iv fluids and antibiotics. They have done blood work and a few xrays on him. If anyone out there has had something like this happen please let me know. I am worried about the outcome for him and I am also worried about the cost. This little guy means the world to me but I don't have the most money in the world and wonder how long something like this could take to cure or what the different possible outcomes would be. He was a surprise baby and has stolen my heart in the 6 weeks I have had him. Any advice or comfort you can offer me would be great. I also hope that you all put him in your prayers and maybe through the power of group prayer he will be fine. Thank you so much guys and I will keepk you posted as I find more out.

The vets are worried about it being joint ill. I don't know much about it but from what I have read, it's not a good thing. They are flooding him with antibiotics for 24 hours before they draw fluid from the joint. I guess they don't want to aggravate it yet. BnD, do you know much about this condition or the possible outcome? I know nothing and am falling apart having to wait until tomorrow to know what is going on.

For your precious little Mac. Lord, please touch this little guy. You know exactly what is wrong with him. You are the Great Physician (and Vet) as You are the creator of all living things. Please give wisdom to his human vet, as how to treat this problem. Give Your peace, that surpasses all understanding, to his human mommy. Help her to know You hold her sweet little guy in you Righteous Right hand and that You already know the outcome of this entire situation. Thank you for sending this special little surprise gift to her. In Jesus' name.... Amen.

It sounds like joint ill to me. I have dealt with this and my outcome was good. We used 3 different antibiotics on him for a month until it resolved. Thank god we were able to get a handle on it without all the more expensive treatments. Good luck mammaleah. I will be thinking of you and him.

Oh I am praying for all the little ones and their mommies and earth mommies too. For Mac and his owners, for Belle, Georgia and the little ones that are at Legacy Clydesdales and all others that are at risk for leaving this earth... Prayer is a powerfull tool and God will provide. Sometimes it is not what we want but if tell the creator our needs, he will answer. Let us have hope and faith that the answer will be healing ... And God - please give the owners of these precious animals strength to endure their trials..
