Hi All!  Hi!

Melanie - I'm so sorry about your dad. My dad was also a diabetic and he'd get to shaking and his memory was bad if he was late for his meal. Maybe this is part of the confusion. I know this is hard as I have been there too myself. I will keep praying for your dad, Melanie.

Beckie - Sorry to hear you're not feeling well  thud  Tonight my throat is a little sore and I knew sooner or later the ol' cold bug would catch up with
me too  Roll Eyes  So many ill and it's not even winter yet  scared

Betty - Hope you were able to get your computer problem solved Grin So far, no computer problems here - it's always my internet provider foottap SATOLLITE Banging my head on the wall Seems a person doesn't have much choice living in the country thud AT&T has been telling me for years now that they will soon get out this way - Maybe one day  bow

Carol -  roflmbo No I haven't even thought about the top of the frig - I wonder if any one would notice if I happen to not clean it  Rolling on floor laughing

Even tho I do spring and fall clean I have learned over the years that a clean house isn't the most important thing smile1 Funny, when I call this good friend she will say, "I can't talk right now, I'm in the middle of cleaning my house."  Strange, I thought, since she hires someone to clean her house. "Isn't your cleaning person coming today?" I asked. "Yes. That's why I'm cleaning." OK, now I really was confused and my silent pause must have indicated as much. "I have to clean this house before she gets here. I don't want her to think I'm dirty," she said, sounding totally upset with me.  Roll Eyes

This wasn't the first time I had heard of this phenomenon. My mother used to tidy up before her cleaning person showed up, and I really didn't know what to think about such behavior. It seems to me if you are paying someone to clean your house, you should let them do their job. Quit interfering  Roll Eyes Fortunately, this clean gene must skip a generation now and then, because I don't seem to be infected at quite the same level as my mother or even my aunts was roflmbo  I do like a clean house, and at one time I felt everything had to be so neat. Then, grand kids came along and felt it was more important to play with them and let them have fun than to have a perfect clean home  cunning Sorry, didn't mean to get carried away here  toothy Grin

Dolly, my sweet little Dolly donk was lame this evening. Thank goodness it was something as simple as a small rock in her hoof pray  Just don't need another lame furbabie limping around here nono

Until later!

Beckie, sorry to her that the Bug found you.

Bev, my home is usually messy. My dad was a dictator when it came to chores and the house had to be clean, dishes had to be spotless, but he always left his stuff laying around for us to pick up. Old time male head of the house. He has mellowed now, but I was told by a counselor that is why I don't keep mine as clean, my subconcious rebellion. I am and was one of those that always did what I was told. so I could stay out of trouble. Now I would rather do crafts, be outside with the animals or doing yard work, be on the computer, sew than do household chores. I do like a clean house it is just not my top priority.

My computer did fine yesterday after installing the virus program. Now it must be January, cause the molasses is running awfully slooooowly Pulling out my hair!. The security check that ran overnight shows a long list of security vulnerabilities, so the puter may have a virus and need its TamiFlu Small help. So more work needed after I post Roll Eyes...Pam, sure Jingles for you to feel better soon. Do as Bev suggested and wear your sunglasses in the courtroom. Let them know it's the only way you can make it through the day, at least for now Cool!...Bev, guess you'll just have to put your foot down and let hubby know that you really want Mike foottap. Fall cleaning time again thud. Maybe our mothers, since so many didn't work outside the home, felt that cleaning was a big part of their job and felt that it showed whether or not they were a good "employee". Nowadays, women are too busy to be concerned about passing the white glove test Cheesy. So glad that Dolly's owie was simple to remedy Clapping ...Lynn, glad your face isn't doing too badly Applause. Hope not too many people are taking TamiFlu as a preventative, except for those with underlying medical issues, or we could be creating an even worse problem down the road Small help...Carol, the puter is workable now, but better using IE than FireFox hmmm. I'm thinking more problems when I try to fix the security problem list scared...Oh Beckie, so sorry that you're feeling sick, but at least the girls are getting better and will be able to help you, if you need it Hugs. So good to hear that Aidan is home cheer...Melanie, still Jingles that your dad will improve. His condition sounds serious, yet sometimes things do improve, even at this stage. BIG Hug! for you and April and Duane.  what, no more Flopsy and Mopsy names hmmm. How about Chatty Cathy to go with Gabby cunning... Hi! Chels and Mary Smiley...Hope everyone got plenty of Sleep last night  Hugs...

 Good Morning Melanie. Sounds good, life is so much more than a spotless floor Cheesy...

 Falling Leaves  Morning Everyone...I hope that everyone's going to have a great saturday and that all who are ailing are on the mend.

Beckie...Sorry to hear that you're now on the list.

Bev...Sounds like you're flirting with it too.

Carol...I'm not familiar with this place called Brick of Gold.  What theater was it next to?  I also don't remember that Lik-M-Aid stuff but I do remember what looked like straws that were filled with something like kool aid.  Remember these wax lips?    Or these coconut strips?

Okay...Now I'm wanting candy and I haven't even had breakfast yet.  roflmbo  Off to a few house chores and then this morning I need to do a little clothes shopping and make a fun stop at BB&B for some new cake pans.  I'm feeling really good and only have a slight non-normal feeling in my throat.  We're suposed to have lunch at our friends' place tomorrow and they have a 7 year old and a baby.  I told them yesterday that I shouldn't be around the kids but I really don't feel I have anything.  Any votes out there?

 Jingles to all those who need them and a  BIG Hug! to all.

 Jingles Jingles Jingles For Melanie's Dad...  sending positive healing thoughts his way.

Pam.. my throat was scratchy for several days before it went into my chest and nose.  Personally, I'd stay away from the little kids since they seem to be much more prone to getting the bug.

All.. I'm going to download the newer version of Firefox so I can transfer all my pix to my nephew's web site.  I might lose the cams when I do that.  Anyone else upgrade to a newer Firefox?  I'm currently still running 3.0

Melanie - So sorry to hear your dad is now in ICU.   I will keep your dad in my prayers  pray

Betty - I know I wouldn't pass the white glove test in my house  cunning  Yeah, times have changed and in this cast I do believe it's for the better  smile1

Melanie - My aunt was the world's worst for keeping a spotless home. As a kid and even an adult I was so uncomfortable in her home as first of all before you even entered her home you had to take your shoes off. I can understand this if the weather is bad - rain or snow. If you dropped a crumb she was right there with a broom  Roll Eyes  Anyway, her and my uncle had one child, a daughter (Joy) and she has always been the opposite from her mom and her home is never tidy.  This just drove my aunt crazy. One thing is Joy never learned how to do anything as my aunt cleaned her room on a daily basis. My mom wasn't that bad and I was so thankful  Wink  But I'm with you on letting some things go and spend time with my family, friends and my furbabies  Grin

Pam - I remember the wax lips and also the coconut strips. I love coconut  yippee Wonder if a person can still buy coconut strips?! My all time favorite pie is coconut cream - Yummy!

You guys, maybe I was wrong on the .75 cents an hour for babysitting  dunno That was too far back to remember for sure. It does seem like I started out at .50 cents an hour at age 12 then the price went up at age 13  Wink I do remember paying .50 to go to a movie  roflmbo Really!

My throat is still a little sore this morning. But oh the wind the last two days  thud  So, maybe it's just something in the air - I hope! Hubby hasn't been feeling well. Yesterday he said he was dizzy a lot. This is so out of the norm for him  smile1  He is one that has to stay busy and right now he is mowing the lawn and it doesn't even need it  Cheesy

Hope everyone has a great Saturday and I'll be back later!

 It's Fall! Good Morning All,

Melanie & April -  Prayers for your Dad and for strength for your family to get through this difficult time.

Beckie - so sorry to hear that the germs have caught up with you.  Please take it as easy as you can and get well soon.  Glad to hear that Aiden's surgery went well and that Kayce and Morgan are improving.  Joel is still coughing and has some chest congestion but his fever and sore throat are gone.  Sorry you lost your post the other day.  It is so frustrating when you type a long post, lose it and have to start over again.

Bev - bless you heart for taking in Ginger and now maybe Mike.  Glad to hear that the Biotin is helping Splash.  We have a donkey at the DSC that has to have front shoes or she goes lame.

Carol - I was really concerned about Joel getting the flu as an otherwise healthy young man in his twenties died from the H1N1 recently here in Guelph.  Glad your garage door was an easy fix.  Guess you're a happy camper with the Yankees' win.

Laurie - thank you for posting some SA pictures.  I must say that they were great shots and I can hardly wait to see more.  Loved the close up of the cheetah.  My girlfriend who lives on Manitoulin Island has gone to Africa 2 or 3 times (many years ago) and she was always trying to get pics of leopards.  Apparently they are very illusive.  Are the rino's mammary glands in the front like the elephant's?  Hope that your health is improving and that you will be feeling better soon.  How nice to bring back some 'rocks'.

Lynn - I wouldn't let Eric take any pictures of me with a black eye.  That was quite the squirrel incident that you had.  Hope that the scratches heal up nicely for you.  How wonderful of you to give your ticket to see WN to your friend.  I was just looking through a flyer and saw a pet ramp made of wood, covered with carpet to assist pets with getting up on beds.  Our 11 year old cat (who is a bit overweight) has trouble jumping up on our bed sometimes.  Was thinking that might be a good idea to make her a ramp.

Pam - nice welcome back emoticon for Laurie.  Too bad that you didn't get out of jury duty.  I think the idea about wearing sunglasses with an explanation as to why is a good idea.  Maybe you can use it to get dismissed - pain and suffering with headaches.  Stay well.   Heart the new pics of Callie at the bottom of your posts.

Chris - Wow, Emily sure lucked out with that babysitting job.  Michaela sounds like a really nice little girl.  What a great mom you were to find it for her.  Thanks for the great screen shots.  Hope that you're enjoying your trip to Bangor, ME with Terry and that you're getting some great deals.  Let me know if they asked about your flu shots at the border, please.

I'm also in the 50 cents/hr for babysitting group and I'm close in age to Pam and Carol (younger though)  toothy Grin   I lived in the country about 1/4 mile from the 'corner store' and I remember the Lik-M-Aid stuff, the straws, open boxes of penny candy, jaw breakers and our little store would give us small one scoop real ice cream cones for returning pop bottles.  Ah, the good old days.  smile1

 Hi! to all the HW aunties that I didn't mention.  Hope you're all having a nice Saturday.

Jean

Bev... from the CDC web site.  Dizziness is not good, possible H1N1 symptom.  Watch your hubby please.

In children:

    * Fast breathing or trouble breathing
    * Bluish skin color
    * Not drinking enough fluids
    * Not waking up or not interacting
    * Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
    * Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
    * Fever with a rash

In adults:

    * Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
    * Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
    * Sudden dizziness
    * Confusion
    * Severe or persistent vomiting

Jean.. the USA did NOT ask about flu when I came back from Africa.  However, when I entered South Africa, they take your pix with an infrared camera.. to see if you have a fever.  Anyone with a fever is denied admission.  The lady I got the flu from was just in the beginning stages I guess, so they didn't determine she had a fever..  So much for screening everyone, she brought it in anyhow.

Thanks for the info Laurie.  Too bad people insist on going on trips when they know they are sick.  Eric works for a shuttle service between Guelph (and surrounding areas) and the Toronto airport.  He gets really annoyed when people who are sick choose to travel because if he catches it and is off work, he doesn't get paid.  He tries to take every precaution but isn't allowed to wear a mask.

Off to the DSC soon.  See you all later.

Laurie, I'm now running Firefox 3.5.5. Just did some more updates and my puter is working much faster than earlier yippee. The newer Firefox is doing as well as the previous version I used. Am now doing more Windows updates. Hope when I install them, things will go as well as they did a couple hours ago bow...

Top o the beautiful morning.

Ooooooooh, Beckie,  Drat.  So sorry.  Get over it soon.  So glad everyone else is doing well.  REST!

Melanie and April, much love to you.  These are tough times.
The DNR/DNI is very difficult when things arise.  It seems rather simple when it is signed, but man it isn't.  We were so fortunate with our parents drs, who were extremely compassionate and communicative with us.

Laurie, wow, those symptoms just sort it right out, don't they. Confusion, how could they tell with me, LOL.  I knew the children get better and then get bad, which some parents don't seems to know.  I hope you are feeling better.
Oy, imagine traveling all that way and not being allowed in.  The old rock and a hard place.
Man, Eric, in a van with sick folks, kiss of illness.

The Princess is making her own adjustments with our help.  Like, she now sleeps in the bottom drawer, rather than the third one from the bottom.  She still hasn't gone outside this morning, though, so still the iron bladder.  Going to get her out now.
