Morning all, bit chilly here this morning. Cold weather is to hit town next week, so I'll be bringing all the plants in over the weekend onto our porch. My brother came by a couple of weeks ago and put up the plastic siding. I'll just have to fill all the gaps once it gets cold. Mum is feeling better. We are thinking it is sinus related. I've also been feeling a bit congested and blah, also allergy related. We both have been using the sinus rinse and it has helped. Bev, there is a good chance it is pollen that is making you feel under the weather. I get allergy shots every week unless I don't feel "well". I'm allergic to everything that grows, except Elm and Sycamore trees. I get an allergy report sent my email every day to tell me what is blowing around. Check out this website http://www.aaaai.org/ for the allergy report email. It might have other tips as well. I had seen the Nubs story a fews days ago. Just a heartwarming story. Beckie, hope you continue to feel better. Hope the shopping and Dr. visit went well. I'm sure everyone is getting very excited. Melanie, I'll continue to say prayers for you and your family. It is just one day at a time. Please remember to take care of yourselves so you may be there for your mom and dad. Lynn, hope the advise on the TMJ was helpful. Sorry you didn't get to see your guys play. I have a cousin that lives in Scotland. I've only met his wife and kids, but if there is anything that I can try and get for you from Scotland, I can always ask them. Laurie, loved the videos. Hope you are beginning to feel better. Phyl, wonderful advise to Melanie. Chris, I go for my next crown work the day after Thanksgiving. It will probably cost about $700 if I need a root canal as well, and that is with insurance. Merry Xmas to me. I was hoping to go shopping on the internet for some good deals that day, but don't think I'll have time. Carol, Chris, Betty, Mary, and everyone else. Hope you have a good day.

Donna - Thank you for posting the website! This morning when I was out I got to thinking a lot may have to do with the dust and dirt as the wind has been pretty strong the last few days and both really get my sinuses going Went ahead and got my flu shot I figured it wouldn't kill me I'll have to go back and read more of the website. I go through this every fall and winter Glad it isn't anything serious with your mom. This weekend I have to bring in my plants too as calling for a freeze I believe they said Monday. Nubs is a great story! Yesterday evening before dark I walked my two Rotties and there were two adult coyotes a distance from us but they were sure watching us! I'm going to start carrying my little hand gun if nothing else to scare them off. But Chase (Rottie) is scared to death of any loud noise, fireworks, guns etc... and I'd probably scare him off too We have lost one dog since we've lived here that a coyote got and she was small. Coyotes will entice a pet and feel this is what happen to Mandy. Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday!

Update on my dad. The OT said he is gaining some strength. Not sure how because he is not eating much, mostly just wants sweets. He has a lot of times when he is very confused, and other times when he seems so with it. His legs were blue and puffy tonight. It is pretty creepy because I have caught him sleeping with one eye open. Gremlins in my computer so I am going to sign out. Melanie

Melanie - glad to hear your seems to be getting a little stronger - they can surprise us sometimes - just enjoy the times when he is "with it" and let the other times just fade away - the last Thanksgiving my dad was alive he was sitting at my table when my son & daughter came in - he thought Christine was an elevator operator in the building he worked in back in the 30's - he also thought Carl was a foreman at the plant - my kids just went with the conversation and my dad must have gone on and on for almost 30 minutes just as if he really was back at work in the old days - it's a good memory that we all think about every Thanksgiving Donna - good news that your mum is on the mend and that the sinus rinse seems to be helping - are you pretty well settled into the new building? Bev - coyotes specially two of them - hopefully they were just passing thru and kept on going. Just got a weather alert for frost tomorrow morning - I can already feel the temperature is dropping - guess I'll be building a fire tonight when I get home since I turned the heat way down this morning - need to put new batteries in the smoke alarms - they've been sitting on the counter since I turned the clocks back but I've been too lazy to climb up and put the new ones in Weather must be pretty good at HW - only critters on the cams are the two legged ones scrounging for seeds - oooops here comes Beckies scooping up before the thundering herd comes in And there's Morgan with the grain

OMG - I think CC just gave Beckie a few nips on the back of the leg - what a little stinker - Beckie turned and told her in no uncertain terms - the four weanlings came charging in and did the "which bowl has the best grain in it" shuffle - only 3 bowls and four starving donkeys

Do the weanlings get hay also or just grain and they eat hay during the day outside? Probably a dumb question. Phyl

Hi Phyl.. no dumb questions... well, unless they come from Carol.. Anyhow... most equines need to have food available to them, forage type food, all day long. They don't process their food very well, almost as much as goes in comes out the other end.... so they need to eat a lot to maintain their bodies. So, I'm assuming that Beckie gives the babies both grain and forage... I don't think she feeds a pellet feed so she must use a grass hay blend of some sort for them. I'm certain I'll never get caught up. Today, at least, I felt better than I have in days. Got the first load of laundry done since I got home.... I've been really out of it.

Bev, sure hope your allergies ease up soon and the shot is not a painmaker . the Nubs story. He and his owner are going to be on Conan's show Monday night. I already have it set to record . How frightening to have coyotes around, sure hope they keep their distance ...Donna, another frost season starts for you Southerners . Ours officially began Sept. 30. I signed up for the allergy e-mails, for the link. I've had a good year, have taken my Zyrtec only a few times, none since eary April ...Melanie, wonderful to hear that your dad is improving. Amazing what the human body can do ...Carol, what a nice memory of your dad at Thanksgiving . When I first was in nursing training, we were told to re-orient people to reality when they were talking about things that were incorrect. Later it became the practice to go along with wherever the person's conversation took you. Much less stress on the confused patient. The little stinker is still at it, eh ... Phyl...Laurie, you should know about the equine feeding process, having your own critters. How are Skipper and Franklin, BTW ...Beckie, have a great day at Grandma's, don't tire yourself out too much. You are still recovering . Saw the donkeys were out shortly after 5 AM, what an early start for you ...Hope everyone had a peaceful ...

Good Morning Everybody I apologize that I'm soooooooooo far behind. I see there's been a lot of going on here...must have had something to do with Laurie being back . For now, I just want to wish everyone a great day. I've got to get moving to get "off the property" stuff done before lunch so I can enjoy some outside time on the property today and more exercise than I've been getting sitting on my bum in the courtroom. I'll be back later today. P.S. Betty...LOVE your new avatar.

I love Mother Nature and all her splendour I was out and about this morning and such a beautiful calm sunny morning Within 15 minutes the leaves were really falling and oh the wind and the temperature had dropped 10 degrees with a lot of haze. To me it's one thing to be inside and see this but to be outside and experience is so neat to witness just how she works. Just thought I'd share that Yesterday, hubby went to our medical doctor for his dizzy spells. He was told he has excessive buildup of fluids in his inner ear. Just looks like he would be able to feel the pressure and he felt none I hope this is all it is as have a friend with Vertigo. Time will tell Donna - I really appreciate the link to the allergy website. I went back this morning and read everything! It's really hard to avoid pollen I know. So apparently pollen is in the air when the pollen count shows it's low I want to sign up for the news letter but I haven't been able to find yet where I sign up I'll go back once again as I know it's there Pam! Carol - Such a great memory of your dad at Thanksgiving I wish the coyotes would just pass through They will set and watch you Several years ago the OK Department of Wildlife Conservation came out and cleared out many as they were getting too brave for us and our neighbors as they would walk down driveway's and here too right in the middle of the day If they'd stay way back in the fields and pasture land they don't really bother me but, when they come into your yard I feel it isn't safe for pets. A few months ago coyote got our neighbors little white Maltese A pack will really come close to the house after dark Betty - Coyotes So far so good with the ol' flu shot This male nurse is SOOOO good as never even felt the needle He comes to the office where my hubby retired three years ago so the shots are for employees and retirees also their spouses But no children Anyway, this nurse had a jar of candy setting on the table and I ask; "Is this candy for if we don't cry" and he said yes Melanie - Hope everything is going smoothly for your dad I remember when I'd visit my grandmother in the nursing home and when she was sleeping I'd go around and visit other residents there. Some had no family close This one elderly lady I got really attached to her and I'd write letters for her. They even had volunteers to do this - She was in a good nursing home and sounds like your dad is too Oh yeah, I see the kids are out this morning or they were when I started this Have a great Saturday everyone!

Frost everywhere this morning - front yard looked like it had a covering of snow - all gone now and might get up to 55 Hi Phyl.. no dumb questions... well, unless they come from Carol.. Better to be the one who asks dumb questions than the one who comes up with dumb answers Burn day today so I'm headed out to try and set off a very wet brush pile, scoop a weeks worth of manure out of the corral and trim the tree that my son cut down last week-end. Will catch up on the board later. Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday

Beckie, LOL last night I was watching the birds in the stalls with empty dishes, then the kids came in, I missed CC chewing on your leg, ouchie. I keep counting the days until Victoria arrives
Yikes Laurie is starting to feel better, look out Aunties LOL, she is also taking pictures of bugs rolling around on Poo ehehhee
Carol another busy day for you. scooping poop, burning, busy busy lady. cute story about your Dad, it is fun to reminisce
Melanie, glad your Dad is settling in and I hope feeling better each day
Pam, woohoooo the weekend no court time for you for a couple of days.
Bev, this summer we heard coyotes across the river a few times, I never heard them before, it sounded weird , Rick's cousin lives across the road and his wife and MIL were going out to the car one night and the coyotes sounded very close, so they ran back into the house, so Paul got his gun out and had it ready for a few weeks, in case they were in his yard.
forgot to mebtion the nubs video, oohhhh so sweet, I love it when someone rescues a furbaby
Donna I hope your Mom is feeling better and your alleries are not acting up too bad this weekend
Betty, we are expecting rain tomorrow, it will be 15, so not cold which will be good, but if you want, yiou can send the rain on a different route and you won't hurt my feelings one little bit
Hi ya Phyl and Bobby, keeping busy this weekend?

Carol - That's what I have been doing part of the day is scooping from the donkeys barn and horse stalls Wheel barrel after wheel barrel, never seen so much Even bought new feeders for the horses - hope they'll like them as oh do they smell - they are a hard rubber. Will move both Splash and Zack soon so they'll have their stalls to get into this winter. Right now they are turned on pasture with a shed for shelter. Still plenty of bermuda grass but doubt it will be much longer until we get out first frost. What do you aunties think about treats for horses? Our vet said he never gives his treats as then they expect it These guys (Frosty, Splash and Zack) are spoiled I know, but they are SOOOO easy to catch when the ferrier is coming or just want to catch one to ride or brush etc if you give them treats often. I have never owned a horse that will see you with a halter or bridle and come to you voluntary Clinton Anderson says that if your horse respects you he will come to you I haven't been able to achieve that one yet Nubs is a great story Chris - Coyotes aren't normally aggressive to humans. They are known for their howls and yaps. If you are outside at night, the air clear and cold where sound moves better, and you start hearing a coyote pack howl, it can be rather scary. Some nights they sound so close and probably are. I'm not afraid if I see one or two but I would be afraid of a pack! Kind of like being afraid of a pack of wild dogs. It's best I feel just to be safe. What is so strange about our little dog Mandy that a coyote killed, he just mauled her. Another thing that is strange is the day I found her, that evening, hubby and I were standing at the back gate looking down over the pasture where you can see forever and this one coyote set and watched us from quite a distance. He did this for several evenings. It was just so weird. They will entice a dog to follow them and feel this is probably what happen to Mandy as a coyote got her in the middle of the day. Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday evening!
