Happy New Years Eve to all of you out there. I pray that everyone stays safe tonight. Duane and April are working and I am having my kind of mixed drink...orange juice and diet cranberry sierra mist.

Snowing here again and calling for snow for the next 10 days. My dad said it was going to be a mild winter because he reads all the nature signs. I think nature may have been sending mixed signals. Thinking about getting out my sewing machine again and making some more dog coats and maybe putting them on our tack website.

Lynn, Duane doesn't like snow tires. He likes all terraine radials, cost a little more, but they get around a lot better and they don't make a lot of noise on dry roads. My van tires have 60,000 miles on them and they are the factory issue tires that came with the van when we bought it in 2004. When in the garage to have the oil changed last month they told me the tires needed to be rotated but said the tread still looked good.

The equine dentist came and ended up working on three horses teeth, BES had her teeth floated and clipped, Zoe needed to have one pulled because it was growing sideways, and Junebug had some issues so she was floated, too. June bug was not good either about it. She is a stinker when it comes to getting anything done to her. Those old show divas are so naughty.

We have taken CC and BES away from Bullet and Bugsy. Mamas getting too worn down. A little nervous that the stress is going to send Bullet into a collick, so far he doesn't seem to mind too bad. But April said it was time. Bullet doesn't seem to mind as much as Bugsy. OH my what a drama boy. Running and bucking, calling and screaming, he was having a royal fit. But good grief he is taller than his mama, was looking pretty funny when he nursed. I have been watching out the windows and both boys seem to be grazing and spending time with the other weanlings.

Happy New Year! to all at HW.  I'm sitting here having a hard time believing another year has evaporated.  I hope that everyone has fun but safe plans for bringing in 2010.  We're going out for an early pizza feast and then back home for some bubbles.   I see Chip might have a new home.  It would be nice to think that this new year will bring him a new and exciting life.

Laurie...The sea lion disappearance sure has everyone baffled.  I'm really sorry they're gone but hope they've found a good food supply.  It's such a shame because they're such a  San Francisco experience.  It's phenomenal for tourists because most of them come from places where they'd never get to see these magnificent creatures.  The noise is deafening but it's the real deal.  I hope they'll be able to return once they can sustain themselves in the SF Bay again.

We had a very special treat on Christmas Eve morning.  We had a visit from a pair of migrating birds that at first glance looked like white doves.  They're actually white and a soft buff color.  They're called Ringed Turtle Doves.  I got this picture of one on the edge of the frozen birdbath.  It was walking all over the ice trying to find a place to drink from.  It's not really clear because I wasn't using a tripod but I thought everyone might enjoy it.

While I'm on pictures, here's a cool one for you.  I saw this "thing" growing at our neighbor's so I came home and grabbed the camera.  I had to lie in the pine needles in order to get this but it was totally worth it.  I looked this "thing" up later that evening and found that it's poisonous and that it's better know for it's hallucinogenic properties.  I haven't seen anyone having a party over there yet.    Here's this gorgeous red mushroom...

Off to do some house projects and it won't be long before I have to start stripping all the Christmas decorations.  That gives me a headache.  haha

Happy New Year! 's Eve to all the HW family.  Eric has to go to work at 9:00 p.m. tonight and won't finish until 5:00 a.m. so I'll be praying for his safety on the roads tonight (he drives for an airport shuttle company).  I'll be spending a quiet night at home watching MS cams and some TV.

Melanie - hope the weaning goes well for Bullet and Bugsy.  BES, Zoe, and Junebug will be much happier when they eat now that their dental work is done.

Mak - hope the lady from Wisconsin likes Chip and that he finds a wonderful home with her.  The countdown is on for your baby sister.  smile1

Laurie - how nice that you're 'up and running' with your laptop.  We heard about the 'missing' seals in SF bay on our news broadcast yesterday.  Guess they have to go where the food is (if that's why they left the bay).  I was in SF ~40 years ago and I remember them being billed as an attraction back then.  They will be missed.  Hope they come back.

Pam - thanks for sharing your pics of 'magic' mushrooms and the turtle dove.  Now neat for you to see them.  Where was the partridge in the pear tree?   toothy Grin  We don't take our Christmas tree down until March (it's artificial).  We like to look at the pretty lights and decorations all winter.  Makes the winter seem not so long.  smile1

Rain cloud Rain cloud   These say it all - we have gale force winds and the rain is coming in sideways - was hoping to stay in the office all day but ended up making a trip to the bank, later  the PO (mailman never showed up today), 2 trips to my store and a friend called to see if I wanted to meet her for lunch - went to a new Chinese place and let me tell you, when they say spicy chicken they are NOT kidding - popped a piece in my mouth and thought I was on fire - gulped some tea (which was very hot) so now my tongue is slightly scalded  thud - knew I should have gone to McDonalds  Rolling on floor laughing

Judy - sure sounds like your renovating project is coming down the home stretch and that you will have a fantastic place once it's finished - are you going to get new furniture to go with everything?

Laurie - that is so weird about the sea lions - we have a small herd at the harbor here - nothing to compare with SF but still a tourist attraction - so glad your laptop is working out for you - I know your den gets cold in the winter - has Chuck gotten over the flu bug?

Melanie - poor Bugsy - into each life a little rain must fall but if he's going to get neck spasms from nursing it's time to leave the nest  Grin

Donna - we are on accrual basis not cash so as long as I get the bills entered into Accounts Payable I can take them as a Dec. expense - of course, that means financial statement doesn't get done till middle of the month but I can always use the slow mail delivery as my excuse  clever

Mac-  Dancing that Chip may have found a new home - will keep fingers crossed that the lady just falls in love with him  Cheesy

Pam - such a pretty dove - almost looks like it's tail got frozen in the water - that mushroom would certainly be tempting to pick with the red color to it -hope the neighbors don't have young children around  nono  I'm in the same boat as you as far as Xmas decorations go - usually watch the Rose Bowl parade as I take them all down.

Chris just called and cancelled our workout - fine with me - I'm going to sneak out of the office and head home - it's a clam chowder night  Happy

Edit:  Hi! Jean - will  pray that Eric gets thru the night OK - is the weather good, bad or indifferent right now?

Carol - The temp right now is 32F and will go a few degrees colder through the night.  We've been getting a few flurries throughout the day today and maybe some more tonight.  I'm mostly concerned about the party goers who might drink and drive and be a risk on the roads tonight.  I appreciate your prayers for him.

Hope you're tongue recovers quickly from it's scalding.  My mom always likes her tea HOT and she always keeps at me to drink mine while it's hot.  I always scald my tongue if it's too hot so I take my time and it really annoys her that I don't drink it more quickly.
